Dental plan customers face lottery on payment breaks and refunds

Two million dental plan customers face lottery on securing payment breaks and refunds

More than two million dental patients face a lottery on securing payment breaks.

Denplan allows customers to choose a dentist and spread the cost of a year’s treatment over 12 months.

But when surgeries closed for lockdown, customers were told it was down to individual practices to provide payment breaks and refunds.

Some two million people who took out plans to spread the cost of dental treatment over 12 months have been told it is down to individual practices to provide payment breaks or refunds

Malcolm and Helen Charles, both 68, from Wallasey, Merseyside, pay £46 a month for their joint plan, but could not visit the dentist for months.

Malcolm, a father-of-two, says: ‘Denplan should be treating all of its customers the same.’

After Money Mail contacted Denplan, he received a £92 refund. Denplan argues customer contracts are with the surgeries and are tailored to individual needs.
