Strictly’s Max George has apologised after swearing live on air

Strictly’s Max George has issued an apology after accidentally swearing live on air during Saturday night’s primetime show.

The Wanted band member, 32, seemed to get a bit carried away as he celebrated after finishing his American Smooth dance with Dianne Buswell, 31, on the live show.

He could be heard delightedly shouting ‘f***ing get in’, ruining his somewhat elegant final pose with his professional dancing partner.

The star’s microphones are muted while they are performing, but are turned back up again when the dances finish, before they speak to host Tess Daly and the judges.

And unluckily for Max, his microphone seemed to pick up his untimely expletive during the primetime BBC programme.

Later on in the show, Claudia, 48, addressed Max’s slip of the tongue and apologised to viewers for his language.

‘I don’t know the details, I don’t know if you heard. If you did, we’re deeply sorry. Even if you didn’t hear, we’re still sorry.’

Max also took to Twitter after the show to address his unfortunate blunder, explaining that he got ‘a little bit lost in the moment’.

He continued: ‘Hope you enjoyed the dance guys!!!! I may have got a little bit lost in the moment and said a bad word.

Strictly fans quickly took to Twitter following Max’s gaffe, with many admitting they immediately rewinded the show after not even noticing his error.

Some fans were left fuming after his slip-up, claiming that his language ‘ruined’ his dance and criticised him for swearing during the family-friendly show.

One wrote ‘Not impressed with the language especially whilst I’m watching with my young children. Yes some people may find it amusing, not when your watching with kiddies it isn’t. Shame on you for your outburst, I was enjoying the music and the dance, then… the huge F bomb ruined it.’

Another said: ‘f*****g get in’ MAX THIS IS A FAMILY SHOW. #strictly’.

However others found the slip-up amusing. One viewer said: ‘I didn’t hear that but it’s so funny.’

While another fan penned: ‘Did Max George swear at the end of his dance? Settle a family debate we think he said “f***in get in there”.’

And a third also saw the funny side, tweeting: ‘Max George saying “f***ing get in” when he finished his elegant dance on prie time bbc tv brilliant.’

Max’s American Smooth performance only earned him 20 points from the judges and put them second from bottom in the leaderboard.

Despite Max’s apparent joy after the dance, they did not receive the positive comments from the judges that they were hoping for.

Craig Revel Horwood went as far as to say he lacked ‘any sense of style’ that was needed for the ballroom dance in his harsh critique.

He continued: ‘You lack any sense of style, actually, of flair, that this particular dance needs.

‘Your arms are extremely haphazard, your hands are like spatulas on the end of them, darling.’

But while Max was eagerly waiting for his judge’s scores, Claudia surprised him with a rare video message from his girlfriend Stacey Giggs.

The ex-wife of former footballer Ryan Giggs, 38, appeared on screen alongside her dog to say congratulations to Max after she watched his performance.

She continued: ‘Hi babe, well done tonight you danced so elegantly. That suit looks amazing.

‘We are super proud of you, we can’t wait for you to get home and we love you loads.’

Max blew his girlfriend a kiss after the sweet message and then thanked Claudia for organising the moment, saying he ‘appreciated it’.

The pair have been loved-up since getting together in 2018 and has had to separate from her while he competes in this year’s series of Strictly.

Back in July, Max told how he hoped to marry Stacey one day and have children.

He told The Sun: ‘I’ve always said I’ve wanted kids but never committed to it in my own head but I think Stacey’s the one.

‘We would love to add to the family at some point, that would be amazing. Obviously there are no guarantees but I’m sure we both feel the same way.’

Stacey already has two children, Liberty, 17, and Zach, 13, who she shares with her ex-husband Ryan, 46.
