Good Morning Britain viewers were left ‘in bits’ today thanks to a sweet elderly couple who couldn’t bear to be apart.
Yesterday footage emerged of the emotional moment devoted wife Betty Meredith, 91, surprised her husband Kenneth, 96, who has dementia, after deciding to move into his care home because she ‘couldn’t live without him.’
Charlotte, from Redditch, took to Twitter to share the heartwarming video from Bourn View care home in Birmingham, and penned: ‘My granddad went into a care home five weeks ago and my nan couldn’t live without him so she decided to move in and the care home did this for them – my actual heart.’
Today a further clip appeared on GMB revealing the heartwarming first conversation between the reunited couple.

Emotional viewers took to Twitter in their droves, with one writing: ‘I’ve just seen Kenneth and his wife Betty being reunited in her nursing home. I’m in bits’
‘Just you and me,’ Betty told her husband as they held hands at the table, to which Kenneth replied: ‘Can you take me back?’
‘No, not taking you back, I’ve come to live with you,’ Betty exclaimed. ‘Alright? I’ve moved in. Are you alright, are you happy?’
In tears, Kenneth replied: ‘Now I see you it’s better.’
Betty then remarked on the efforts of care home staff, who’d adorned their table with heart confetti and balloons to make their reunion extra special.
‘They’ve done all this for us, these kind people have done all this for us,’ she said, hugging her sobbing husband.

In the previous clip shared by Charlotte, Kenneth is seen walking through the door with his zimmer frame, before breaking down in tears when he sees his wife Betty sitting down in front of him. Donning a white T-shirt and vest jumper, he holds out his arms ready to give her a warm embrace.
As The Platters’ 1954 hit ‘Only You’ can be heard playing in the background, the pair then share a long, warm hug. The song was chosen because Betty had been in the care home one week before self isolating due to Covid, but Kenneth had no idea she was there.
The post racked up thousands of views and over 1,700 likes – with one admitting ‘it brought a tear to my eye’.

Alongside the clip of the couplet, who’ve been married for 71 years, Charlotte penned: ‘My granddad has been in a care home for five weeks due to dementia… and today my nan moved in with him. The carers decorated the whole dining area. He had no idea she was coming.
‘This is just the most beautiful thing. I love them both so much.’
Charlotte revealed both of her great grandparents have seen their health deteriorate since their daughter passed away on August 14.
The care home also shared the footage on Facebook and explained: ‘After a month of living apart, Kenneth did not know when he would see his beautiful wife Betty again due to Covid 19 and current restrictions!

‘Betty made the decision to move in to Bourn View and be with her husband but first had to isolate! Kenneth had no idea Betty had moved in and today the two of them were reunited at a surprise meal! Betty perfectly put it, they are now back “Together, forever.”

Care worker Rosie added: ‘Honestly the job is amazing. We aren’t a care home we are a family and would do anything for our family staff and residents.
