‘We’ve been lucky!’ Patti Newton shares a heartfelt message of support to the ‘lonely’ grandparents who can’t see their loved ones due to COVID-19 lockdowns
The COVID-19 lockdowns have been tough for many grandparents, with many unable to visit their loved ones.
On Monday, Patti Newton shared a heartfelt message of support to those who have been left feeling ‘a little lonely’.
The 75-year-old’s Instagram post was accompanied by a photo of her and husband Bert, 82, with their grandkids.

‘I know a lot of us grandparents have been missing out on seeing the little ones the past few months,’ Patti wrote in the caption.
‘We’ve been lucky to keep in touch with ours, but I can’t imagine not getting to see their smiling faces everyday.’
Patti and Bert were pictured playing LEGO with three of their daughter Lauren’s children.
‘When we play, we can truly bond’. The grandmother-of-six pleaded with her followers to ‘call’ or ‘book in some play time’ with their elderly loved ones when possible
‘It’s Grandparent’s Day this Sunday – if the oldies in your life have been feeling a little lonely, make sure you book in some play time and give them a call,’ she continued.
‘Bert and I will be building @LEGO DUPLO with the grandkids and having an absolute ball! When we play, we can truly bond and connect through a shared creative language.’

Bert and Patti became grandparents for the sixth time in August when their daughter Lauren welcomed her sixth child, a son named Alby, with her husband, Matt Welsh.
Patti broke the news in a joyous Instagram post.
‘Little Alby James we have all fallen in love with you. Congratulations Matt and Lauren can’t wait to hold him,’ she wrote.
Lauren is also mother to Sam, 11, Eva, nine, Lola, six, Monty, two, and Perla, 18 months.
