Covid victims being denied life insurance cover and told to reapply three months after symptoms cease

Legal & General and Royal London are both turning away would-be customers who have signs of the virus

Life insurers are refusing to cover those who have suffered from symptoms of Covid-19 in the past four weeks.

Legal & General and Royal London are both turning away would-be customers who have signs of the virus and asking them to reapply in a month. Legal & General is telling those who have tested positive for the coronavirus to reapply three months after symptoms cease.

Meanwhile, Royal London is also now restricting cover for customers with pre-existing conditions that make them especially vulnerable to Covid-19.

Both insurers say that they will offer the policies sooner if a customer tests negative for the virus.
