Personal trainer runs lockdown aerobics class for herstreet…while standing on a portable toilet

Go with the Flo! Personal trainer Flo Dowler, 24, runs lockdown aerobics class for her entire street… while standing on top of a portable toilet

  • Flo Dowler, 24, is running fitness workouts from on top of a giant portable toilet
  • The 30-minute weekly sessions take place in a residential road in Fulham
  • The money raised from the fitness classes goes towards helping the NHS
  • Residents are asked to bring dumbbells, but tins of tomatoes can also be used

Most of us trying to stay fit in lockdown have to make do with Joe Wicks online or the Green Goddess on breakfast TV.

But residents in one well-to-do London street have been treated to their own weekly class.

Every Monday evening, personal trainer Flo Dowler clambers on top of a huge green portable toilet block and runs a 30-minute workout.

Neighbours file out of their homes, observing social distancing between households, to do aerobics in time to Eighties music blasted from a speaker.

Miss Dowler, 24, who lives in the street in upmarket Fulham, barks out instructions and encouragement from the roof of the metal container, left at the side of the road during a construction project.

Participants are encouraged to bring dumbbells to maximise their efforts, though some use tins of fruit or tomatoes – premium brands, of course – and others dance holding their pets.

Miss Dowler, who works at a gym in Chelsea, started the classes last month after spotting the container outside her family’s house.

Her classes raise money for the National Emergencies Trust in support of the NHS Covid-19 appeal. She said: ‘I wanted to do something for our community.

‘I know how important it is to do exercise. I decided to try to get the street moving.

‘I thought that I could help people with their physical and mental health – and raise money for a critical cause.’
