An American woman living in the UK has gone viral with a video highlighting the British customs that ‘would not work’ in the US.

Lisa Dollan, 39, is originally from Atlanta, Georgia, but now lives in Leeds, and has noticed key differences in the way people behave in the two countries.

She shared her observations in a hilarious TikTok video that has been viewed more than 3.5million times.

The mother-of-one, who posts under the handle @yorkshirepeach, claimed even straightforward practices like a car MOT ‘wouldn’t happen’ across the pond.

However the clip sparked some backlash from American viewers who claimed such things were only true in some parts of the US.

Lisa kicked off the clip by discussing British people leaving packages with their neighbours.

‘I didn’t even know that was a thing until I moved here,’ she said. ‘No chance. Wouldn’t work.’

On the UK driving test she said: ‘How hard it is. No chance. It wouldn’t work in the States’.

Cultural differences? 5 things that ‘wouldn’t happen in the US’

Car MOTs: ‘You could drive around with your bumper hanging off, a flat tyre. It doesn’t matter.’

Serving alcohol in cinemas: ‘No chance’

Playing the ‘knock and run’ game: ‘Please don’t do this in America, because if you enter someone’s property they can, you know…’

Lisa also gave a jokey warning to children who might want to try the ‘knock and run’ game in the US, saying: ‘Please don’t do this in America, because if you enter someone’s property they can, you know…’

Lisa continued: ”Telling Americans they have to get their cars MOT’d every year. No chance. You should see the state of the cars we drive around.

‘Maybe it’s a thing in some states… not where I’m from.

‘You could drive around with your bumper hanging off, a flat tyre. It doesn’t matter.’

Finally she added: ‘Alcohol being served in a cinema, in a movie theater, no chance.’

Viewers were divided over the observations, with some Americans insisting the equivalent of car MOTs or the knock-and-run game do exist in their hometowns.

One posted: ‘There’s alcohol served in a lot of movie theaters in America…’

Another wrote: ‘Love these videos but how come you can’t leave a package with a neighbour? American neighbours in movies look so friendly!’

A third added: ‘It’s very interesting and your videos show just how different each state it. I’ve lived in NY and FL , I can leave packages with neighbours in both.’
