The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Anthony Mackie’s kids aren’t impressed

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Anthony Mackie is one of the most beloved superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe… except in his own home.

The 42-year-old actor was promoting the show, which debuts Friday on Disney Plus, with his co-star Sebastian Stan, 38, in an interview with People.

When asked about how his four sons feel about him being an Avenger, Mackie said his boys are less than impressed.

‘They could care less, dude. In my house, all they wanna do is beat me at board games,’ Mackie began.

‘My eight-year-old beat me at Monopoly, and you would have thought he was the richest human being alive,’ the actor continued.

‘They’re pretty much really not into me as an actor at all. It’s shockingly funny how much they couldn’t care less about me being in movies,’ Mackie adds.

His sons, who he shares with ex wife Sheleta Chapital, and range between four and 11 years old, instead idolize their favorite gamers on Twitch.

‘I can’t remember his name, but there’s this British dude who sits online and plays Minecraft and all these kids watch him. This dude is like Michael Jackson in my house, to my boys,’ Mackie said.

Mackie was back in his hometown of New Orleans filming The Falcon and the Winter Soldier last year, where he got to see his boys develop new skills.

‘They’re getting to the age where their individual personalities are starting to show, it’s fun to be able to embrace that and experience that their growth as individuals,” Mackie says.

‘My second kid, he’s a cook. We cook together all the time. My oldest is kind of emotionally like me,’ he continued, adding, ‘I’ve enjoyed just being at home and able to get to know them better as individuals.’

Mackie made his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Sam Wilson in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, where, with the help of a mechanical wingsuit, he becomes The Falcon.

The actor added that, unlike Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, Wilson is just ‘a normal guy’ with no ‘superpowers, no serums.’

‘When we first meet him, he’s a counselor for soldiers. Then he’s picked up by Captain America to be an Avenger. And it’s just like, he’s on this whirlwind adventure. And the adventure just grows more and more. The discovery of it is something I really enjoy.
