The Morning Show host Kylie Gillies emotionally reunites with her mother in Sydney

‘We know how precious mums are!’ Kylie Gillies reunites with her mother in Sydney after ’18 MONTHS’ following coronavirus restrictions

Kylie Gillies’ mother has finally been able to visit her in Sydney for the first time in ‘over 18 months’, after coronavirus restrictions lifted.

On Tuesday, The Morning Show presenter, 53, shared an emotional photo cuddled up to her Queensland-based mum as she arrived at her house in the city – where she gushed over just how ‘precious’ the reunion truly is.

In the caption, Kylie wrote: ‘Best Airport pick-up ever – FINALLY!

‘Mum’s first trip to Sydney to see us in over 18 months. She’d booked tickets in March of 2020… then lockdown.’

She then thanked a BMW dealer for allowing her to ‘cruise the city in style next week’, because we ‘know how precious mums (and dads) are’.

While the mother-daughter duo have reunited in recent months, it is the first time she has been safe to fly to Sydney from Hervey Bay, where she resides with Kylie’s dad.

It’s believed he is currently still in Queensland.

Over Christmas, Kylie endured a nightmare last-minute rush to exit Sydney and dash to spend time with her family, as the New South Wales borders slammed shut.

Kylie documented the trip, saying she had ‘never packed so fast in her life’ as she scrambled for a flight to Queensland to be with her mum, dad and sister, after an eruption of COVID-19 cases in Sydney meant state borders were closing rapidly.

Sadly, her husband Tony and their teenage sons, Gus and Archie, couldn’t make it in time.

On Christmas Day, Kylie sweetly shared a throwback snap with her three boys and wrote: ‘I’ve come to realise that a single day doesn’t define a family.

‘Of course it hurts when we can’t all be together. But love is robust. I hope, and trust, we all come through these shocking times a bit stronger. And forever grateful.’

After spending some quality time with her mother and father, Kylie later revealed she and her boys were enjoying a gorgeous trip to Lord Howe Island for a post-Christmas getaway.
