The Project: Carrie Bickmore didn’t know who Stevie Nicks was – despite loving Fleetwood Mac

‘Who is Stevie Nicks?’ Carrie Bickmore leaves The Project panel aghast after her HUGE pop culture fail – despite saying she ‘loves’ Fleetwood Mac

She’s the Australian talk show host and current affairs reporter who usually impresses viewers with her vast knowledge of pop culture.

But that certainly wasn’t the case on Tuesday, as Carrie Bickmore revealed she ‘didn’t know’ who legendary artist Stevie Nicks was – despite being a massive fan of the band she fronts, Fleetwood Mac.

In a move that left her co-host Steve Price aghast, Carrie, 40, said: ‘I saw them recently… and I only discovered two years ago that Stevie Nicks was in Fleetwood Mac.

‘I love Fleetwood Mac, and then someone said they’re going to see Stevie Nicks and I said… “Who is Stevie Nicks?”‘

Stevie, now 72, is of course the band’s powerhouse lead singer who first joined in 1975, known for her mystical on-stage presence and gravelly voice on hit songs including Dreams and The Chain.

Her solo career was also a massive success, releasing singles including Edge of Seventeen and Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around.

‘I’m old enough to have seen Fleetwood Mac when they first started!’ Steve added.

It comes after Carrie shared an unrecognisable throwback of herself as a fresh-faced teenager, sharing a collage of photographs from the 1990s to her social media.

‘The ’90s… when you didn’t get the chance to take a photo multiple times til you got one with your eyes open,’ she cheekily captioned the post.

One photo shows a much younger Carrie wearing a red sleeveless top while her hair was slicked back behind her ears.

Meanwhile, a third image shows the long running television presenter smiling at the camera, wearing a printed floral dress.

Unknowingly at the time, Carrie appeared to have her eyes half open, and was unable to see how the photo turned out until she got the film developed.
