Seven’s new show Holey Mo

Have Seven gone too far? Holey Moley contestants suffer from ‘two broken ankles, 12 broken ribs and several concussions’ during filming

Holey Moley has proved to be quite the surprise hit with Australian viewers.

But while the Channel Seven show smashed ratings in recent weeks, a bombshell new report has claimed that the contestants suffered numerous injuries while filming on the mini golf obstacle course.

According to Woman’s Day, one competitor suffered from 12 broken ribs, two others broke their ankles and there was a number of concussions on-set when the show was filmed last year.

‘One person who was injured even had to crawl off the course before safety and medics helped them,’ an insider claimed.

A second added: ‘A show like this takes careful planning to make sure that everything runs smoothly, but even then, lives are still at risk.’

The show apparently brought with it so many on-set accidents that American commentator Rob Riggle fled back to the US in a hurry ‘shocked by the carnage’.

Seven declined to comment on the story when approached for comment, but did not deny the injuries took place.

Meanwhile, host Sonia Kruger downplayed on-set accidents when asked by the publication.

She said: ‘Everyone threw themselves into these challenges, and there’s bound to be a few bumps and bruises along the way but it’s never as bad as it looks.’

Indeed, there has been no shortage of dangerous courses on the show.

‘Oh my God! What are we doing to these people?’ screamed horrified commentator Matt Shirvington.

It comes after Studio 10 star Denise Drysdale, 71, was hospitalised in October after being injured on the set of the intense new game show – breaking her shoulder in three places.

In a statement provided to the Herald Sun, the show’s producers Eureka Productions said: ‘While filming Holey Moley in Brisbane, Denise Drysdale tripped on a putting green and sustained a shoulder injury.

‘Denise is a national treasure and everyone is wishing her a speedy recovery.’

For the challenge, that has to be shot in the dark, the TV legend received an electric shock via electrodes whenever she missed a shot on the putting green.

The injury is said to not be the result of an electric shock, but rather Denise dancing and interacting with the audience on the outdoor set.
