Mother of Britain’s largest family says home-schooling ‘couldn’t get any worse’

The mother of Britain’s largest family – with 22 children – has admitted the usual chaos in her home ‘couldn’t get any worse’ as she attempts to homeschool her youngest children during the pandemic.

Sue Radford, 45, said she struggles to make sure all her children are on track with their schoolwork while keeping the household going.

She shares her 22 children with his husband Noel Radford, 49, and the family live together in Morecombe, Lancashire.

In her most recent Youtube vlog, Sue provides an insight into the family’s current morning routine as she battles to ‘prise’ all her children out of bed and get them fed before a day of virtual learning on Zoom.

Like so many families across the country, the Radford’s have been struggling to balance their usual routines with homeschooling.

In the video, as Sue attempts to prepare breakfast for every child and sort out technical difficulties for one of her children, another asks her questions about their work while another begins to cry.

James, 16, Ellie, 14, Aimee, 13, Josh, 12, Max, 11, Tillie, nine, Oscar, eight, Casper, seven and Hallie, four, are all distance learning from the Radford family home.

WHO ARE THE RADFORD FAMILY?

Dubbed Britain’s largest family, the Radford family is made up of Sue and Noel Radford and their 22 children.

Sue and Noel’s most recent child is Heidi, who was born in April this year, with the others being Chris, 31, Sophie, 26, Chloe, 24, Jack, 22, Daniel, 21, Luke, 19, Millie, 18, Katie, 17, James, 16, Ellie, 14, Aimee, 13, Josh, 12, Max, 11, Tillie, nine, Oscar, eight, Casper, seven, Hallie, four, Phoebe, three, Archie 2 and Bonnie, 1.

The couple met for the first time when Sue was seven, before going on to have their first child when Sue was 14 and Noel was 19.

They got married in 1993 when Sue turned 18, and went on to have nine children before Noel had a vasectomy – which he later had reversed.

Sadly Alfie, the couple’s 17th child, was stillborn on July 6th 2014.

Oldest siblings Chris, 31, and Sophie, 26, have moved out of the family home to start their own families.

Meanwhile, daughter Millie, 19, has now added to the brood with her daughter Ophelia, three months.

‘The secondary school ones aren’t too bad, they will do their own thing but primary school is just hard work. It has not been easy at all.

‘But we’re all in the same boat aren’t we.’

The family, who starred in Channel 4’s 15 Kids and Counting back in 2012, regularly shared vlogs of their day to day experiences.

This is not the first homeschooling vlog their have shared, earlier this month posting clips of the family sat around the kitchen table doing Maths and English homework.

The couple are parents to Chris, 30, Sophie, 26, Chloe, 25, Jack, 22, Daniel, 20, Luke, 19, Millie, 19, Katie, 17, James, 16, Ellie, 14, Aimee, 13, Josh, 12, Max, 11, Tillie, nine, Oscar, eight, Casper, seven, Hallie, four, Phoebe, three, Archie, two, and Bonnie, one and Heidi Rose, five months.

Chris and Sophie have moved out of the family home.

Sadly Alfie, the couple’s 17th child, was stillborn on July 6th 2014.

Last month, the couple’s third child Chloe said that she only wants ‘three kids max’ after growing up as one of 22.

The makeup artist, 25, revealed in a Q&A on Instagram that she is keen to start a family, although ‘not for a few years yet’.

She also told fans that she is saving up for her own place and plans to move out some time this year.

Chloe invited her 56,000 followers to ask her anything and ‘make it interesting’, and kids were something her fans were keen to know about.

One follower asked: ‘I’m sure you will get this a few times how many kids do you want and when?.’

Chloe – whose younger sister Millie, 19, gave birth last year – replied: ‘Three max. Not for a few years yet though.’
