Married At First Sight: Nasser Sultan on the sad reality of being a troll

The sad reality of being Nasser Sultan: Married At First Sight ‘troll’ admits he’s been ‘playing a character for three years’ and couldn’t return to real life after becoming obsessed with fame

He’s the Married At First Sight contestant who has become infamous for trolling his co-stars on social media since his appearance on the show in 2018.

But on Tuesday, Nasser Sultan finally revealed he’s been ‘playing the character’ of a ‘deluded reality star’ for three years – and admitted it’s been difficult to return to real life after becoming obsessed with fame.

‘It’s not easy, it’s not like switching a light off. I am obsessed with it – why am I caring about these people?’ the former music promoter, 53, said on Not Another Reality TV Podcast.

On Sunday night, Australia’s self-proclaimed ‘favourite celebrity’ stormed out of the Married At First Sight Grand Reunion after refusing to apologise for making a string of hurtful comments about his castmates.

And while he did say sorry on the podcast for some of his more ‘personal’ insults, Nasser blamed his behaviour on a ‘split personality’.

‘I wanted to continue to be noticed and recognised,’ he said. ‘I never wanted it to end – I wanted my name to be known by everyone across Australia.

‘It all went wrong because I started to embed myself in the lives of everybody else. I am obsessed.’

He went on to say that he’s played the character of a villain ‘very well’, but he can’t continue to do it forever.

‘There has to be a limit where [I say], “Enough now, I have to change direction,”‘ he said.

After confirming he only returned to the MAFS reunion for ‘ratings, money and fame’, he said he now hopes to change and become a ‘nicer’ person in the future.

It comes after Nasser stormed out of the Grand Reunion dinner party, which aired on Sunday night, after the entire cast screamed: ‘Just leave, Nasser!’

Angered, he got up from his seat and said: ‘I will leave. You know what? I will leave.’

‘I don’t need to put up with this s**t,’ he added, then told producers he would continue to ‘attack’ the cast online.

‘If they don’t wanna hear it, they can all p**s off. I don’t need this s**t. Some stupid reunion bulls**t. It’s not a reunion. It’s an “attack Nasser”,’ he grumbled.
