Lucy Fallon hilariously mocks reality stars jetting off to Dubai for New Year’s

Many reality stars have escaped the UK’s cold weather and coronavirus restrictions in favour of luxury holidays to Dubai this winter.

And Lucy Fallon mocked the TV stars as she posed in a coat by Fleetwood beach in Lancashire while wishing her followers a happy new year ‘from Dubai’.

The former Coronation Street star, 25, took to Instagram Stories on Friday morning as she shared a picture of the beach and posted the tongue in cheek message.

She captioned the image: ‘Can’t believe I’m in Dubai for 2021 xxx’. On the next story, she shared a second image of the beach, penning: ‘Look at this dubai sand x’

The actress wrapped up warm in a teddy bear coat and jumper as she protected herself from the January chill with a large white scarf, writing: ‘HNY FROM DUBAI X’

She later cleared up the joke for anyone who might have been confused, as she wrote on her Stories: ‘Just in case ppl didn’t realise, I’m not actually in Dubai.

‘Turns out Fleetwood really does look like Dubai after all.’

The UK government has been forced to introduce increasingly strict rules surrounding hospitality, education and travel as the coronavirus crisis continues to worsen.

While many Brits remain at home with social media accounts as a key form of entertainment, Instagram feeds are littered with a legion of snaps of reality TV stars soaking up the sun around the globe.

Most notably and widely discussed is undoubtedly the descent of the reality world on Dubai, as the United Arab Emirates has played host to a number of stars over the past year, despite the consistent rules throughout advising against international travel, save for work and education.

Amid yacht trips and wild nights out, a host of stars have all maintained their trips have been for business purposes with many confirming their work plans on social media or to publications through their representatives.

Government guidelines for international travel currently state: ‘Following identification of a new variant of the virus, international travel from your area may be increasingly restricted because of domestic regulations…

‘Different rules apply in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. For example, those in tier 4 areas in England will not be permitted to travel abroad apart from limited exceptions, such as work purposes. Follow all the rules that apply to you.’

The general travel advice on the Gov.uk site reads: ‘We continue to advise against all non-essential international travel to some countries and territories. You should check the country page for your destination….

‘We are monitoring the international situation very closely and keeping this advice under constant review so that it reflects our latest assessment of risks to British people. We take a range of factors into account.

‘For coronavirus, this includes the incidence rate and the resilience of healthcare provision in each country.’
