The Sunrise staff said goodbye to one of their beloved staff members on Friday.
Fill in hosts Edwina Bartholomew and Mark Beretta led a brief but sweet tribute to floor manager Matthew Carey, who is leaving the breakfast program for a career in public relations.
It comes as host Samantha Armytage prepares to marry millionaire businessman Richard Lavender in an intimate ceremony in the Southern Highlands on New Years Eve.

‘Matt Carey, our floor manager and one-time, some-time guest greeter, some time close friend of the Cash Cow who finishes today, his final day,’ Edwina said.
‘He is going on to a stellar career in PR. Thank you for your service here.’
She added: ‘His high kicks, choreography, he’s good fun. Thank you, Matt, for everything.’

Sunrise co-host Samantha Armytage, 44, is reportedly preparing to tie the knot with Richard Lavender, 61, in the Southern Highlands on New Years Eve.
Sam and Richard, 61, officially confirmed their romance in November 2019, after meeting at a friend’s party seven months earlier.

They are expected to tie the knot at Richard’s 40-hectare property in the Southern Highlands. It will be an intimate ceremony with a ‘small number of guests’ only.
The couple had announced their engagement in June with an Instagram post that received almost 60,000 likes.
Posing in the arms of Richard with her diamond ring on display, a smiling Sam simply wrote: ‘What a year…’
