Host Julia Morris claims she has no knowledge of disgraced chef Pete Evans ever being cast on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! despite reports he was fired

Julia Morris has said she doesn’t believe Pete Evans was ever cast on the upcoming season of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

In an interview with Mamamia on Tuesday, the 52-year-old TV host insisted she wasn’t across the show’s casting decisions.

‘But I don’t think it’s really his thing, is it?’ she said, laughing off reports the 47-year-old disgraced chef had been replaced by Colin Fassnidge.

In denial: Julia Morris (pictured with co-host Chris Brown) has said she doesn’t believe Pete Evans was ever cast on the upcoming season of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

‘As if that guy, who goes on about not relying on the mainstream media, would go into the jungle. That seems like an incredibly odd choice, don’t you think?

‘Let’s put it this way… he wasn’t missed. If he was going in, he wasn’t missed.’

According to a report by TV Blackbox last month, Pete was fired from the Network 10 reality show, right before filming on the latest series was about to begin.

He was dropped from the hit series after sharing a neo-Nazi meme to Facebook last month.

According to a former senior executive at the network, the former My Kitchen Rules judge was ‘furious’ about the situation.

Rob McKnight told Fitzy & Wippa at the time: ‘This morning at 6.30am the call came through from Beverley McGarvey [Channel 10’s chief content officer] to the production house and she said, “He’s out, don’t let him go into the jungle.”‘

‘He is now packing his bags and returning to Byron Bay, which isn’t a big drive from where they shoot I’m A Celebrity…, and he is apparently furious,’ he added.

McKnight went on to say that Pete was ‘100 per cent’ going into the jungle before McGarvey made the call to drop him from the line-up.

‘Executives at Channel 10 have done the right thing this morning. I think his TV career is done and dusted. No one will touch him. The neo-Nazi stuff is a bit too far,’ said McKnight.
