Laura Dern, 53, reveals her ‘beautiful’ male friend has died from COVID-19 as she vows to be extra careful because her mom Diane, 85, has a lung condition: ‘I certainly take the pandemic very seriously’

Laura Dern is taking Covid-19 ‘very seriously’ after a ‘beautiful friend’ of hers sadly died when he contracted the virus.

The 53-year-old actress has said she hopes ‘everyone globally’ is taking the ongoing coronavirus pandemic seriously, as she admitted she is being extra cautious when out in public now.

‘I’ve had friends who are on ventilators, who pulled through,’ the Big Little Lies star said. ‘I’ve known people of all ages who’ve been very sick. And we had one beautiful friend and artist who, who lost his life to it.’

She added, ‘So we certainly take it very seriously as, I pray at this point, everyone globally does.’

Laura wants to see everyone following ‘essential’ health precautions to prevent the spread of Covid-19, including mask wearing, social distancing, and regular testing.

She added: ‘These are all essential, but a mask really matters. It has really saved lives.’

She explained to People magazine: ‘Testing has been vital, so that I can check on them and bring them food and give them community.
