Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood leaves the studios with his WINE GLASS in tow after the final

He had earlier declared that he’d be ‘positive’ during the final in light of the devastating Tier 4 Christmas news.

And Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood certainly had a smile on his face as he left the Elstree studios with his wine glass in tow on Saturday night.

The choreographer, 55, appeared in a jovial mood as he smiled and waved to onlookers from his taxi, as his glass of white wine sat snuggly in a drink’s holder next to him.

With pubs and bars shut amid the coronavirus restrictions, Craig certainly made the most of social drinking at work, before carrying on the festivities in his taxi home.

The theatre director wrapped up warm in a cosy faux fur trimmed hooded jacket, while staying protected with a plastic face shield.

Far from the scowl he usually exhibits on the show, he appeared full of joy as he grinned broadly following the thrilling final.

Earlier in the evening, the notoriously catty judge declared there’d be no nastiness from him during the show.

Referencing Boris Johnson‘s announcement regarding the stricter government tiers over Christmas that were revealed two hours before the show aired, Craig insisted he’d be ‘positive’ for the evening.

‘You might not recognise me!’ he said.

This ‘unnerved’ host Tess Daly, who said it felt unusual to hear this ethos from Craig.

He kept his word, dishing out 9s and 10s to the contestants taking part in the big finale.

He even told Maisie Smith and partner Gorka Marquez that their second dance was ‘annoying because I can’t find anything wrong with it’.

Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse were crowned the winners of the programme, beating finalists Jamie Laing and Karen Hauer, HRVY and Janette Manrara, and Maisie and Gorka.

The comedian, 55, became the oldest champion in the show’s history as he scooped the Glitterball trophy, and paid tribute to his professional partner for ‘turning him into a dancer.’

The victory also made the South African beauty, 30, Strictly’s first ever back-to-back champion in the show’s history, and the dancer also praised her celebrity partner for being ‘a friend, father figure and brother.’

As they prepared to lift the Glitterball trophy, funnyman Bill said: ‘It feels surreal, it feels extraordinary, it feels wonderful, I never thought we’d get to the final but I had the most extraordinary teacher, the most extraordinary dancer, who believed in me right from the beginning and she found something in me and turned me into a dancer.’

Oti fought back tears as she said: ‘I think you are amazing, remarkable Bill Bailey, you just put your heart into everything.

‘You’re in your world but I love your world and I always want to be a part of you, thank you for being a friend, thank you for being a father figure and a brother and for this!’ as she gestured to the sparkling trophy.’
