Piers Morgan reveals SEVEN of his family members have had COVID-19 after previously announcing his elderly parents had battled the virus
Piers Morgan has revealed seven of his family members have contracted COVID-19, as he slammed Telegraph columnist Allison Pearson on Monday.
The Good Morning Britain presenter, 55, took to Twitter to respond to Pearson’s post where she claimed ‘hardly anyone’ knew someone who had battled the virus.
In her tweet, Pearson questioned whether the coronavirus should be considered ‘an epidemic’ as only two people had told her they knew someone who’d passed away after testing positive for the virus.

She wrote: ‘I’ve asked so many people if they know anyone who has had Covid. Hardly anyone. Two people knew someone (not close) who’d died. Without daily news would we even know there was an epidemic?’
Clearly frustrated by her comments, Piers responded by sharing his parents and one of his sons had had it, as well as one of his brothers, his brothers’ wife, their eldest daughter, and his niece.
Saying Allison should ‘consider [herself] lucky’, he added: ‘Three good friends of mine lost parents to covid. My colleague Kate Garraway’s husband is in a coma from it. My parents just had it.
‘One of my sons just had it. One of my brothers, his wife, & their eldest daughter just had it. My niece just had it. Consider yourself lucky.’

In November, Piers told the public his elderly parents, mother Gabrielle and stepdad Glynne Pughe-Morgan were feeling much better after battling coronavirus.
The presenter told Good Morning Britain viewers: ‘They’re a lot better, it’s such a relief’, adding that his stepdad had got his taste back.
Piers had previously said that his stepdad had been unable to taste wine and he had urged him to drink the ‘cheap stuff to save himself a fortune.’
But on Thursday, he said his delighted stepdad had finally managed to taste salt in his meal.

He said: ‘He saw that as a gigantic step forward to being able to taste his wine again.
‘So, well done, dad. One small salt step for man, one giant leap for your chances of guzzling some vino by the end of the week.’
Piers had revealed that this parents, both in their mid to late seventies, had contracted the deadly coronavirus from a member of their support bubble.
He said: ‘I’d like to say something to my parents, they are both battling COVID and have been for two weeks and it’s a scary thing for a family…
‘When your elderly parents are fighting it, they are both in their mid to late 70s, and they got it two weeks ago from someone in their bubble and they had to go out and they were very sensible but got the virus and then bang it was like dominoes.’
Piers’ biological father Eamonn Vincent O’Meara, tragically died in a road accident when Piers was just 11 months old, and when his mother remarried, the TV star and journalist took on his stepdad’s surname.
