Antony tragically died on September 12, 2014, after suffering a heart attack in a hotel in Singapore.

Last month, in an interview with TV Week, Nicole became emotional when discussing how her parents shaped her.

She explained that she and her sister, lawyer Antonia Kidman, felt ‘lucky’ because they could always turn to their father for advice.

‘My sister and I were talking recently about how lucky we were, because I would turn to my father for advice all the time, and to my mother [Janelle] too,’ she said.

Nicole also revealed that she was reminded of her father while starring alongside Donald Sutherland in The Undoing.

‘Donald is my dad’s height, and he reminds me of my father,’ she said. ‘So I’d go up to him and snuggle him all the time.’

In October, the Oscar-winning actress revealed that the ‘sudden’ death of her father, as well as a string of other losses, had deeply affected her.

‘I’ve been given death as a very sudden thing. I’ve not nursed someone through a slow death, I’ve just had people taken,’ she told The Sydney Morning Herald

‘I’ve now had it happen repeatedly, I almost get scared saying it because I get terrified it’s going to happen again. I still have a lot of fear of that.’

Shortly after she filmed Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut in 1999, the acclaimed director died from a heart attack.

Her friend Robert McCann passed away in 2005, she lost her father in 2014, and her former brother-in-law Angus Hawley died on a business trip the following year.

The actress has previously remembered her father as a generous and wise man, who cared little for material possessions.

In 2018, Nicole told The Weekend Australian her dad was the Australian she most admired.

‘[He] was always such a guiding light in my life,’ she said of Antony, who was an esteemed academic in the field of mental health.

‘He dedicated himself to helping others, especially young people dealing with depression, anxiety and stress.

‘I miss him so much and remain in awe of his work and aspirations,’ she added.
