Two-thirds of ‘baffled’ Britons have no idea where they can travel in the UK over Christmas as many have been left ‘completely clueless’ over coronavirus tier rules.
More than one in three adults polled by Travelodge said they need more clarity on where they can go in the coming weeks.

The hotel chain said its survey of 2,000 Britons indicated one in four are ‘completely clueless’ over how the tier system works.
Two out of five respondents living in Tier 2 areas believe they cannot travel or holiday in a Tier 1 area, the report said.
A third of British adults said they wanted more clarity on where they can holiday and travel too within the UK this festive season. And 55 per cent of Britons do want to take a short break at home this festive season so that they can safely see family and friends.

Shakila Ahmed, of Travelodge, said: ‘Our latest travel report reveals Britons are baffled as to whether they can travel within the current tier system.
‘With the festive season fast approaching there is certainly a demand for Britons wanting to take a short break.
‘It is essential that before making travel plans, people are fully informed on the tier travel guidance for their residential region and visiting location.’
ENGLAND’S TIER SYSTEM: Where can Brits travel this Christmas?
Anyone living in England can travel to meet people in their Christmas bubbles of up to three households and return home between the 23 and 27 December, according to the Government guidelines.
Anyone travelling to or from Northern Ireland can go between December 22 and 28 and to Scotland and Wales between December 23 and 27.
Tier 1
You must follow tier 2 social contact rules when you travel to a tier 2 area;
You should avoid travel to or overnight stays in tier 3 areas other than where necessary, such as for work or education, youth services, to receive medical treatment, or because of caring responsibilities;
If you do travel to a tier 3 area, you must follow tier 3 social contact rules; Where necessary, you can travel through a tier 3 area as part of a longer journey;
Avoid car sharing with someone from outside your household or your support bubble where possible to reduce the risk of transmission.
Tier 2
Must continue to follow tier 2 social contact rules when you travel to a tier 1 area;
You should avoid travel to or overnight stays in tier 3 areas other than where necessary, such as for work, education, youth services, to receive medical treatment, or because of caring responsibilities;
If you do travel to a tier 3 area, you should follow tier 3 social contact rules; Where necessary, you can travel through a tier 3 area as part of a longer journey;
You should also look to reduce the number of journeys you make where possible;
You must not car share with someone from outside your household or your support bubble unless your journey is undertaken for an exempt reason – for example, if car sharing is reasonably necessary as part of your work.
Tier 3
If you live in a tier 3 area: you should avoid travelling outside your area, including for overnight stays, other than where necessary, such as for work, education, youth services, to receive medical treatment, or because of caring responsibilities;
Where travel is necessary, you should continue to follow tier 3 social contact rules when you travel to a tier 1 or tier 2 area;
You should also look to reduce the number of journeys you make where possible;
You must not car share with someone from outside your household or your support bubble unless your journey is undertaken for an exempt reason – for example, if car sharing is reasonably necessary as part of your work.
