The Christmas tree is likely already up in Kate Ritchie’s family home in Sydney.

And now the former Home and Away star, 40, has revealed how she intends to spend the festive season with her daughter.

Kate told Women’s Weekly on Thursday of the special traditions she is passing down to six-year-old Mae this year.

The actress recalls her own memories of Christmas at six years old, with one being looking for Santa and Rudolph in the night sky.

‘Seeing the simple pleasures and joys of Christmas though your children’s eyes is magical,’ Kate said, adding she would be looking to the skies with Mae this year.

Another family tradition being passed down, is the annual Christmas concert put on by the children in the family.

‘I was the bossy eldest of four and I would direct and produce our Christmas concerts,’ the Nova FM radio host laughed, adding it will now be put on by Mae and her six cousins.

Kate also said she was grateful for all her family living close by in New South Wales during the global pandemic: ‘If anything good has come, it’s that we’ve reassessed our priorities and part of that has been reconnecting with family and a reinvigorated sense of community.’

This comes as Kate’s marriage to retired rugby league player Stuart Webb is said to be in dire straits amid tabloid speculations they have split.

In April, New Idea reported that Kate and Stuart had been attending ‘counselling’ to resolve their marital issues.

‘Stuart has been trying to show Kate that he’s a changed man and is serious about getting his life in order,’ a friend told the magazine.

Kate reportedly moved out of their marital home in Randwick in late 2019 after police took out an interim AVO on her behalf against the retired NRL star, following an incident at the property.

In December last year, Stuart’s five-time drink driving history was revealed in a police fact sheet, as he faced court for blowing 0.083 when he was pulled over by highway patrolmen in the city’s east in March last year.

Kate and Stuart tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in Launceston, Tasmania, in 2010.
