Aussie country singer reveals his VERY surprising new career: Adam Brand swaps his guitar for work boots, hi-vis shirts and a life in the outback

He has been one of Australia’s most successful country music singers for more than two decades.

But since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, Adam Brand has swapped his guitar for work boots and hi-vis shirts while fossicking for precious metals in Western Australia.

The 50-year-old moved from his home on the Gold Coast to the township of Cue several months ago with his partner, Nui, 38, and their 18-month old daughter, Pepper.

‘I knew I couldn’t sit at home waiting for a world spinning out of control to right itself so I could take care of [Pepper],’ Adam told Woman’s Day.

‘If I had to drive a truck, dig holes, I would do whatever I had to do to look after my family.’

The sea change has also been timely for Adam, whose career was put on hold last year when he underwent surgery to fix a vocal cord issue after appearing The Masked Singer Australia as The Dragon.

The pandemic has also given the Last Man Standing star the chance to ‘slow down’ and spend more time with his daughter.

‘For me it’s perfect timing, because for the past 20 years I’ve been on the road, touring, focused on my career that stuff… It took me this long to grow up and slow down,’ he said.

Adam’s career shift comes after he revealed to 7News in May that he was thoroughly enjoying spending more time with his family in lockdown.

‘I guess everyone’s been saying this, but this is certainly a time for reflection and to look internally into your own home,’ he said.

The father of one added that the global health crisis had given him the chance to slow down and smell the roses.

‘Before all this, I was so busy being busy, and I am really loving this aspect of what we are going through,’ he said.

‘The fact that we are spending so much time together in our homes with our families is quite lovely.’
