A similar double Big Mac was launched in the US earlier this year but this is the first time it’s been released in the UK, and the chain say it’s different from the Mega Mac – which was previously on the menu and also had four patties.

The burger is the biggest McDonald’s UK has ever sold and will be available from Wednesday 18 November.

Also new this winter is McDonald’s Jamaican Jerk Chicken Sandwich Meal, also for £5.69, which sees two pieces of succulent crispy chicken serves with a spicy jerk sauce, Beechwood smoked bacon, Pepper Jack cheese, slivered onion and lettuce in a sourdough bun.

However, you’ll want to keep in mind that a double Big Mac packs 694 calories and the Jamaican jerk chicken sandwich has 564 calories.

Also back by popular demand is the McDonald¿s Cheese Melt Dippers for £1.79.
