A Michigan couple has finally welcomed a baby girl after years of trying — and 14 baby boys that came before her.

On Thursday, Kateri Schwandt, 45, gave birth to a daughter named Maggie Jayne, who weighed 7 lbs., 8 oz. and was 20 inches long.

Though she and her husband Jay, 45, certainly already had a full house with 14 other children, against all odds, this was their first daughter in a home filled to the brim with sons.

Surprise! Kateri and Jay Schwandt, both 45, welcomed a daughter named Maggie Jayne on Thursday. They already have 14 sons

The Schwandts have been procreating since they were teenagers, having met as freshmen at Gaylord High School and Gaylord St. Mary’s. They married in 1993 and had three sons together before graduating from college.

But it took a lot of tries to get two X chromosomes.

‘We are overjoyed and beyond excited to add Maggie Jayne to our family,’ Jay said. ‘This year has been memorable in so many ways, for so many reasons, but Maggie is the greatest gift we could ever imagine.’

‘My parents were finally blessed with the little girl they never thought they’d end up having,’ oldest son Tyler Schwandt, 28, added to the Detroit Free Press.

The couple’s other kids include Zach, Drew, Brandon, Tommy, Vinny, Calvan, Gabe, Wesley, Charlie, Luke, Tucker, Francisco, and Finley.

With a house so full of testosterone — and little Maggie’s gender clearly a surprise — the Schwandts aren’t fully prepared to have a girl on their hands.

‘I don’t even know if my mom owns any pink clothing — or anything,’ Tyler, who lives in his own home and is now engaged to be married himself, added.

He also said he didn’t think his parents had settled on any girl names before the birth, having been so convinced that another boy was in their future.

The Schwandts’ male-heavy household has been featured on the news and on TV in the past.

The couple’s youngest son, Finley Sheboygan, was born in April 2018 — and his middle name is a bit of an inside joked.

Kateri’s dad like to tell a story about a Native American chief with many sons who believed his last child would be a girl. When it was a boy, the chief named named him Sheboygan — as in, ‘she’s a boy again.’

‘So, we decided to have a little fun with it,’ she said. ‘He’s got a lot of brothers standing behind him, so if anybody wants to make fun of his name, they can try.’

Kateri admitted that there life with such a big family is ‘Crazy. Chaotic. Noisy. Messy,’ but added: ‘We enjoy it. If we didn’t, we wouldn’t have continued to have this many children.’
