Nearly 20 years since Elle Woods hit the big screen for the first time in Legally Blonde, the movie and character have cemented their place as pop culture icons.
And star Reese Witherspoon reunited with the most recognizable stars from the 2001 in a fundraiser reunion that streamed on Tuesday.
The Big Little Lies star was joined by Luke Wilson, Holland Taylor, Jennifer Coolidge, Selma Blair, Ali Larter, Alanna Ubach, Jessica Cauffiel and Matt Davis over video call.

SNL cast member Chloe Fineman moderated the digital panel as the cast reminisced on the now classic movie.
When asked if there was a sense of how big the movie would become during filming Reese, 44, said ‘None of us knew what this film was gonna turnout to be or how much it would inspire young women and young people across the world.’
She added: ‘I’ve traveled the entire world and the movie people always stop be about it Legally Blonde. And the thing that really touches my heart is people stop me and say “I went to law school because of Elle Woods.”‘
The Sweet Home Alabama actress was just 24-years-old, with a one-year-old daughter when she filmed Legally Blonde, which Blair couldn’t believe she handled with such enthusiasm.

She also said unequivocally ‘The line people remember the most is “What, like it’s hard?” that has gone on to be a calling card for young women and often appears on graduation caps.
In a sweet reveal, Cauffiel, who played Elle’s sorority sister and best friend Margot, shared how she helped Ubach land the role of Serena to finish off their Delta Nu trio.
Cauffiel said after being cast she was preparing to read with actresses auditioning for Serena.
During a quick trip to the bathroom she met Ubach who was struggling with her lip color and fiending for a red lipstick.

Ubach asked her to help her ‘pay rent’ and land the role as Serena. Cauffiel was so taken by her humor and personality she took time in the bathroom to choreograph movement to the audition scene with Ubach that wowed the casting agents and landed her the role.
‘She’s been my best friend ever since,’ Cauffiel said of her co-star.
‘Everyone created a really iconic snapshot of what needed to be for this movie,’ Blair said while praising her co-stars.
‘The stars were aligned so perfectly for this movie,’ Cauffiel said. ‘And Reese, you were like the guiding light. You elevated us all.’
‘Who doesn’t love a reunion? Especially when it is a Legally Blonde one! Thanks for this Reese. I loved seeing you all! So much love,’ Blair wrote on Instagram Monday

Witherspoon teased the reunion on Instagram, Monday, writing ”Ohmigod you guys!!’ noting another iconic line from the movie. ‘It’s a Legally Blonde Reunion.’
She gushed: ‘We laughed, we cried and we may or may not have done the bend & snap for old times sake!’
The Wild star ended her post with a cheeky nod to her character’s former love interest, who Elle expected to propose, but shocking broke up with her instead.
‘PS: Don’t you want to see if Elle & Warner finally make up?’ she teased, just in case any of her 24.3 million Instagram followers were on the fence about tuning in.
Luke Wilson, who ends up playing Elle’s husband in Legally Blonde 2 was among the cast members who attended the virtual reunion
For old times sake: Witherspoon gushed about the reunion on Instagram: ‘We laughed, we cried and we may or may not have done the bend & snap for old times sake!’
Additionally, Larter raved how ‘incredible’ it was ‘to see everyone and relive the memories in this unforgettable movie.’
‘I feel so lucky that in my career I have a movie that still brings so much laughter and joy to people. What a gift,’ the 44-year-old Varsity Blues wrote on Instagram.
The star-studded reunion comes as actress and screenwriter Mindy Kaling is currently writing Legally Blonde 3, which comes 19 years after the original movie.
The film is said to be ‘coming together quickly’ with Witherspoon in her original role, as well as the original creative team.

As well as starring, she will co-produce under the banner of her company Hello Sunshine.
The original comedy, about a woman who goes to Harvard law school to win back the affections of her ex-boyfriend, was released in 2001 and the sequel Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde, followed in 2003.
In the second film, Elle heads to Washington D.C. to help pass a bill to ban animal testing.
The first movie grossed $141 million worldwide on an $18 million budget, and the sequel brought in $124 million on a $45 million budget.
