Lenny Kravitz reveals how he ‘blew’ first attempt to chat up ex-wife Lisa Bonet: ‘I choked’
Lenny Kravitz has revealed how he ‘blew’ his first attempt to chat up Lisa Bonet who became his ex-wife.
The dynamic duo were eventually married from 1987 to 1993 and are the friendly co-parents of 31-year-old actress Zoe Kravitz.
However the 56-year-old told E!’s Daily Pop that when he and Lisa were first introduced backstage at a New Edition show in the 1980s ‘I kinda blew it. I choked.’

His opening gambit to her had been to simply say: ‘I like your hair,’ but in the long run the mistake was not too consequential.
‘Well, I guess, you know, we went were we went, so I guess it was okay. When we met at the New Edition concert backstage I was mesmerized and I mean, I did like her hair. It was beautiful,’ he shared during the interview.
Lenny, who now lives in Paris, was plugging his brand new memoir Let Love Rule which is named after his 1989 debut album.
In the book he revealed that before even meeting Lisa he caught sight of her on a TV Guide cover and said: ‘I’m gonna marry that girl.’

Lenny, the son of The Jeffersons actress Roxie Roker, was not yet famous himself but Lisa had already become a star on The Cosby Show.
However when Lenny first developed feelings for Lisa, who was his friend at that point, he was engaged to another woman called Ming See Lau aka Mitzi.
Mitzi ultimately broached the subject with him and he confessed to being ‘obsessed’ with Lisa – the engagement ended shortly thereafter.
Lenny and Lisa then moved from friendship to romance when they were alone together in a recording studio.

She tripped over a wire into his embrace and ‘In a moment, everything changed. We started kissing. That night I moved into Lisa’s bedroom.’
The crooner dished: ‘Destiny had led us here. With every passing hour, our love blossomed. Premonition turned to prophecy. Prophecy turned to ecstasy.’
They conceived Zoe on a vacation in the Bahamas and then, on Lisa’s 20th birthday in November 1987, they eloped to Las Vegas.
Although the marriage did not last the two have remained friends and in fact he is even close with Lisa’s new husband Jason Momoa, who is 11 years her junior.

‘People can’t believe how tight Jason and I are, or how tight I still am with Zoe’s mom, how we all relate,’ Lenny recently told Men’s Health.
‘We just do it because that’s what you do. You let love rule, right? I mean, obviously, after a breakup, it’s work,’ he admitted.
‘It takes some work and time, healing and reflection, et cetera. But as far as Jason and I? Literally the moment we met, we were like: “Oh, yeah. I love this dude.”‘
