Fans of Lord of the Rings can buy a hobbit house which is on sale for £320,000 in an eco-village that featured on TV show Grand Designs – and it is bright pink.
The property, in Lammas Eco Village in Glandwr, Pembrokeshire, comes complete with outbuildings, stables and six-and-a-half acres of land.
The village appeared on the Channel 4 show presented by Kevin McCloud, who hailed it as a shining example of sustainable living.
He said: ‘This isn’t just an example of how we could and should live. This is a clarion call.’
The pink home has planning permission for a four-bedroom house. Water comes from a natural spring on the site, woodland is used for the firewood and electricity comes from renewable sources.

It has a little wooden door – just like one would find in the Shire, home to hobbits in Tolkien’s fantasy novel – and a small round window looking out at the views.

The land comes with three acres of woodland that offers stunning walks.
The village website states: ‘Our approach to environmental management is one of stewardship for future generations rather than exploitation for short-term gain.
‘The smallholdings combine traditional farming and building techniques with the latest innovations in environmental design, green technology and permaculture.’

The Lammas eco-village, in Preseli hills, North Pembrokeshire, is a collective of eco-smallholdings working together to create and sustain a culture of land-based self-reliance.
The residents of the ecovillage have come from all walks of life and their plots are individual expressions of sustainable living.
Originally planning permission was granted for nine smallholdings. Since then there has been a range of peripheral development adding to the community.
