Kate Hudson confesses she thinks her character from How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days would be ‘miserable right now’

Kate Hudson and Mathew McConaughey were simply irresistible as Andie Anderson and Benjamin Barry in the 2003 hit romantic comedy How to Lose a Guy In 10 Days.

And now, some 17 years since they warmed the hearts of audiences, Hudson shared some ideas of where the iconic couple might be at in 2020.

‘I’ve always thought about what Matthew [McConaughey] and I’s characters would be now, if we were still together,’ Hudson confessed during an interview with Elle magazine.

Walk down memory lane: Kate Hudson, 41, reminisced about what Andi and Ben from How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days would be like today in a new interview with Elle

‘It’s actually probably a good amount of time [that has passed] to make a movie about it,’ she said in a reference to a possible sequel before commenting on their imagined status.

‘We probably would have gotten married with kids. We’re probably miserable right now!’

And who can forget when Andie storms out of Ben’s poker night get-together with her precious, limp love fern in hand.

When asked whether she thought the love fern would survive quarantine,’ the mother of three, 41, was quick to answer back: ‘I mean, I hope so!’

Not so rosy: 'We probably would have gotten married with kids. We're probably miserable right now!' she confessed about Andi and Ben

Hudson went as far as to imagine that Andie would have eventually went through a career change.

‘I think Andie Anderson is ambitious, and she was wanting to go places, and she was sort of stuck in this job,’ she added.

‘I loved what we created with that movie. And she found love that would support her ambitions. Andie would probably be running something at this point.’

The cult favorite follows Andie, a How To columnist for a women’s magazine, and Ben, a playboy ad executive.

The two personalties make for movie magic in a battle of wills: Andie needs to prove she can dump a guy in 10 days, whereas Ben needs to prove he could get any girl to fall in love with him in 10 days.

How To Lose A Guy also starred Kathryn Hahn, Annie Parisse, Adam Goldberg, Thomas Lennon, Michael Michele and Shalom Harlow.

Despite mixed reviews with critics, the film went on to become a hit, grossing more than $177 million worldwide on a $50 million budget, which was largely due to the charming chemistry of Hudson and McConaughey.

The movie is being turned into a series for the new streaming platform Quibi.
