Son of former Harrods owner Mohamed Fayed claims his sister set bodyguards on him in the gym 

They grew up enjoying privileged childhoods courtesy of their father, billionaire former Harrods owner Mohamed Fayed. But that idyll now appears to be a distant memory for Camilla Fayed and her younger brother, Omar.

For I can disclose that their High Court battle has not been resolved, as family and friends had hoped.

Omar alleges he was the victim of a violent attack orchestrated by Camilla and her husband, Mohamed Esreb, and is claiming £100,000 in damages.

He says he had gone to meet his father on May 18 at his Surrey estate and was in the house’s gym when the alleged assault took place.

Rejecting her brother’s version of events, Camilla, 35, asked ‘how it is alleged’ that two bodyguards were acting under her ‘direction and control’.

Now Omar, 32, has fought back in new court documents, arguing that there is ‘no reason at all’ why either bodyguard would have participated in a violent attack on him ‘on their own initiative’.

His lawyers add there was ‘clear co-ordination’ between Camilla and her husband and the two bodyguards — ‘demonstrated by the fact that the two [men] deliberately blocked different entrances to the gym’ to ensure that Omar was ‘trapped within it’.

Omar’s legal team allege that Camilla ‘did nothing’ to prevent the bodyguards from attacking him, while ‘her presence throughout’ and ‘acquiescence’ conferred authority for the attack.

It is also alleged that she ‘specifically issued a command’ that Omar’s iPhone should be seized — with the attack only ceasing once that action had been accomplished.

At ‘all material times’, conclude Omar’s lawyers, the bodyguards acted as though they were ‘agents’ for Camilla and her husband.

But Omar is evidently aware that words alone may not determine the outcome of the case. His legal team repeatedly point out that they seek disclosure of CCTV footage.

Perhaps only then will the picture become clear.
