Ray Romano says it has been ‘kind of enjoyable’ quarantining with his four adult children amid the coronavirus pandemic

He is known for playing family man Ray Barone on the critically acclaimed CBS sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond.

But Ray Romano opened up about quarantining with his real life family amid the coronavirus pandemic in the latest issue of People.

The 62-year-old actor admitted that it has been ‘kind of enjoyable’ having his four adult children, Alexandra, 30, Gregory, 27, Matthew, 27, and Joseph, 22, around the house.

‘Well, [Ray and his wife Anna, 57] have the 22-year-old who’s here anyway. And we had twins, who have their own apartment a couple miles away. So they’ve been back,’ explained Romano.

‘And my daughter has a house in Venice, California. And she’ll spend a week here and then go home. … She has a roommate so she doesn’t know what to do. She takes after me. It’s actually kind of enjoyable in fact.’

Although he does not have first hand experience with the matter, Ray could not help but express sympathy for parents forced to remain in lockdown with their ‘little children.’

‘But [my kids are] adults. I can’t sympathize enough with people who are quarantining with little children.’

As for his feelings on quarantine as a whole, Romano described the entire situation as ‘hard’ and even admitted to not having ‘worn pants in four months.’

And with Hollywood productions at a standstill due to COVID-19, many of his upcoming projects have been put in limbo.

‘I’m not kidding. Look, it’s hard. It’s crazy. We have three more episodes to shoot of this [HBO Max] show I’m doing, Made for Love.

‘And we were about to go into pre-production for a movie I wrote with my writing partner. We’re still kind of working on it,’ revealed the Get Shorty star.

Although new content may be paused for the foreseeable future, fans of Romano can now binge all nine seasons of Everybody Loves Raymond on NBC’s new streaming service Peacock.

Everybody Loves Raymond aired from 1996 until 2005 and earned Romano a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series in 2002.

When asked about why the show continues to resonate with viewers to this day, Ray joked that ‘unfortunately it’s because [viewers] saw themselves in it.’

‘People like to laugh at themselves and know that we’re all sharing those same good times and bad times,’ concluded Romano.
