Kevin Smith addresses claims that Joss Whedon bashed Zack Snyder’s Justice League on the reshoot set

Just days after Justice League star Ray Fisher spoke out and blasted Justice League reshoots director Joss Whedon for being abusive on the set, director Kevin Smith has addressed those claims.

While Smith, 49, didn’t work on the movie, he revealed on his Fatman on Batman podcast that he was visiting the set of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, when he met a ‘special effects guy’ who worked on ‘both versions of Justice League.’

Smith revealed that the unnamed special effects artist seemingly backs up Fisher’s claims, alleging Whedon was often bashing the version of the movie by the original director, Zack Snyder, who left the film after a family tragedy.

Smith’s Fatman on Batman podcast co-host Marc Bernardin began by saying that when movie stars are doing press, they ‘will never really cop to any issues behind-the-scenes.’

He added that they have gone through ‘media training,’ since Fisher had initially said at Comic-Con that Joss was a ‘great person,’ even though he recanted that statement in an explosive series of tweets.

After explaining that Fisher had long been in Snyder’s ‘camp,’ so to speak, since the infamous ‘Snyder Cut’ seemingly features more footage of Fisher’s character Cyborg, Bernardin read Fisher’s tweet where he called Whedon’s behavior, ‘gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable.’

After they broke down his tweets, and what things Fisher may have been referring to on the reboot set, according to rumors, Smith added what he had heard, while on the set of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

‘Remember when I went to the Skywalker set, some people had on both versions of Solo and both versions of Justice League,’ Smith began.

‘The special effects guy said there was a fair amount of trashing of Zack’s version of the movie on set by Joss,’ he added, reiterating that’s just what he was told.

‘That [Whedon] would cut down, dismiss, and be negative about Zack’s version, which he had seen and all these people had made together without him,’ Smith added.

Smith added that the special effects guy said it was ‘uncomfortable on set’ with Whedon, because, ‘the people that he was talking to about not liking that version of the movie, were all the people who made that version of the movie.’

Smith added that may have been what Fisher was referring to when he called Whedon’s behavior, ‘unprofessional.’

Smith also praised Fisher for ‘speaking his truth’ about Whedon, who has still not publicly responded to Fisher’s remarks.

Smith and Bernardin also discussed other rumors from Whedon’s time on the set, including a shot where The Flash (Ezra Miller) falls on top of Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) awkwardly, which was not a part of Zack Snyder’s version, but was added in by Whedon.

He added that Gadot refused to take part in the scene and Whedon filmed the scene with a double.
