EastEnders fans were left surprised on Monday as Natalie Cassidy’s fiancé Marc Humphries made an appearance on Secrets From The Square.

As the BBC soap was forced off air for the first time in its 35 year history due to the pandemic, it has been replaced with a spin off show that looks back at classic episodes.

During the latest episode, Marc, who is a cameraman on the soap, where Natalie stars as Sonia Jackson, made a surprise cameo.

Guess who: EastEnders fans were left surprised on Monday as Natalie Cassidy’s fiancé Marc Humphries made an appearance on Secrets From The Square

Adam Woodyatt, who plays Ian Beale on the show, made the reference as host Stacey Dooley joked that the cast and crew were standing too close.

Adam quipped: ‘He’s with Nat,’ going on to joke that’s the only reason they were friends.

He continued: ‘We don’t actually mean it. We can’t stand Marc. But we have to be nice to him because he’s with Nat.’

Visibly shocked, Stacey exclaimed: ‘Oh, are you? You’re Sonia’s husband? Oh, that’s amazing.’

Natalie raises three-year-old daughter Joanie with Marc – who she has been engaged to since 2015 – and shares daughter Eliza, nine, with ex Adam Cottrell.

While Marc has been able to keep working with Secrets From The Square, Natalie has not been able to since production on the soap shut down.

EastEnders is currently off the air and won’t start recording new episodes until later this week.

Episodes of the iconic BBC One soap opera that were filmed before the coronavirus pandemic ran out two weeks ago.

And new instalments, which will be filmed in accordance with social-distancing guidelines, will be roughly 10 minutes shorter than usual.

When episodes finally return to screens they will only air four times a week as opposed to the usual five times.

Until now, only two pre-filmed EastEnders episodes have aired a week to make them last as long as possible.

Until the new episodes air, the show will plug the gap with classic EastEnders episodes Stacey’s spin-off show.
