A woman who proudly showed off her new yellow rug online has left people in hysterics after they pointed out how it looks exactly like a Greggs steak bake.

The viral photograph, first shared on the Facebook group DIY On A Budget Official by a member thought to be based in the UK, captures the newly purchased decor with the caption: ‘Love my new rug.’

And it appears commentators also took a shine to the furnishing, thanks to it resembling a certain savoury snack.

‘Woah. A steak bake rug,’ one Twitter user commented when sharing the image recently – with the post racking up more than 800 likes.

Another social media user said: ‘Haha, at first glance I thought that actually was a steak bake Photoshopped onto a floor.’

A third Twitter fan wrote: ‘Looks like a Greggs pasty. This really is a positive thing,’ while a fourth added: ‘Wouldn’t want to be on a diet and looking at that rug all day.’

While another person said on Facebook: ‘I’m howling here, funniest thing I’ve seen in a while.’

The rug resulted in many fans jokingly calling for Greggs to launch an interiors collection.

It comes after the chain reopened 800 of its stores earlier this month to the delight of locked-down Britons with a hankering for sausage rolls and steak bakes. 

The UK-based bakery chain is providing a reduced menu to ensure staff and hungry customers keep two-metres apart.

People can still buy bacon sandwiches, sausage rolls and steak bakes at Greggs, but they will not be able to get corned beef pasties.

The new-look stores include floor markings and screens at counters among measures to protect against coronavirus

They will be open for takeaway only, with seating and customer toilets off limits. Customers can order through Just Eat or Greggs’ click-and-collective service. 

Only one adult per household will be permitted to enter the shop at a time.
