Claims former Sunrise co-host Melissa Doyle’s contract is under review at Seven 

David Koch mysteriously shares throwback posts featuring former Sunrise co-host Melissa Doyle – amid claims her contract is under review Channel Seven

David Koch was feeling nostalgic on Thursday, sharing two throwback photos from the early days of his career with Sunrise co-host Melissa Doyle.

The photos, posted to Instagram Stories and vanishing 24 hours later, as is standard for the social media platform, showed the pair on location in 2005, and on set at another unspecified earlier date. 

David, known as ‘Kochie’, 64, explained in his captions: ‘Wow, just found this. First major outside broadcast. 2005 tsunami fundraising concert’.

In a second caption he wrote: ‘And the Roswall. Wow those were great days’. 

The timing of the posts raised the suspicions of some, with claims that her contract is contract is ‘under review’ according to The Daily Telegraph.  

Seven CEO James Warburton told the paper on Sunday that there had been ‘no discussion’ with Melissa or her agent on the matter.

In a statement to the paper, James Warburton simply said: ‘We are still working through plans for 2021’.   

It comes after news that from June 22, Samantha Armytage will no longer host Sunrise on Mondays.

The TV host, 43, has chosen to take a step back from her on-air responsibilities, and opt for a four-day working week. 

The Daily Telegraph reported the announcement on Sunday, which follows the journalist receiving international backlash for a resurfaced ‘racist’ Sunrise segment.

However, Seven has claimed the embattled morning TV star’s recent controversy had nothing to do with her move to a four-day week, as she had apparently requested it in 2019.

With Samantha absent from the desk on Mondays, journalist Natalie Barr will fill in.    

Sam is facing an international backlash over a ‘racist’ Sunrise segment from 2015 that resurfaced this week.

The viral clip, in which she congratulated a white woman on her skin tone, has been viewed 4.6million times on Twitter in the wake of the recent Black Lives Matter protests.
