Big Brother star Craig Phillips reveals Nasty Nick told ‘lie after lie’ while meeting his wife Laura

Big Brother winner Craig Phillips reveals he took his wife Laura to meet Nasty Nick while in Australia, only for his former housemate to tell ‘lie after lie’ during dinner.

Craig, 48, won the very first series of the reality show in 2000, gaining popularity after confronting Nick Bateman, 52, for cheating in the house.

And now years later, it appears that Nasty Nick is still up to his devious ways.

Speaking to The Sun’s TV Magazine ahead of the iconic show’s 20th anniversary specials, Craig revealed that his pal fibbed his way through dinner in order to impress his other half.

He told the publication that the last person he’s seen from the series he won was Nick, with the couple visiting him in Sydney (where he now lives) during their travels.

Discussing the meet-up, Craig said: ‘I knew Nick was living in Sydney so I spent four or five hours with him over a couple of bottles of wine.

‘Sometimes you can catch him when he’s a bit normal but because Laura was there it was lie after lie after lie!’

Meanwhile, the TV personality reflected on his time in the Big Brother house, saying that most of time he spent there was ‘boring’ and even calling it ‘worst than prison.’

He explained: ‘You’ve got to remember, when we were in that house it was worse than prison! We had no phone calls, we had no interaction with the public, not even our family, no text messages, certainly not social media – it wasn’t even on the planet at that point – we had nothing at all to communicate with.’

After winning the show, he immediately donated his £70,000 prize to pal Joanne Harris, who had Down’s Syndrome, to pay for a heart and lung transplant.

Speaking about the situation in lockdown, the DIY expert said: ‘The NHS as we know have been fantastic and a lot of her conversations have been over the phone to the midwives.

‘She did go in for her first scan just after 12 weeks which of course I wasn’t allowed to attend due to the regulations, which was fine.

‘So that was a little bit daunting and nervous for her to go and have her first scan and get her blood test. Of course I was waiting outside with Nelly and our little bulldog patiently in the park across the road.’
