Weeks later, she was enjoying a sandwich in the sunshine outside on May 29 with her sandwich when the inquisitive creature came and sat with her.

The surprised Jessika said she was stunned by the experience, telling the Daily Record: ‘It was an amazing experience. At first I thought it was maybe a dog coming over.’

The new mother said the family were being looked after by the neonatal unit at the hospital after her daughter was born prematurely when the encounter happened.

Jessika and her mother were enjoying a bite to eat in the May sunshine of the hospital grounds as the friendly animal approached them.

And while her mother returned inside to feed Freja, Jessika captured another new arrival.

She revealed: ‘My mum went back in to feed my cub while I listened to some nature meditation and once it finished I looked around and saw the foxy coming over but I didn’t expected it to join me on the blanket.’

Footage shows the mischievous fox creep up to Jessika before taking a look at what food was on offer.

Jessika, who posted the video on Facebook, could be heard saying: ‘Hello fox, hello Mr foxy’ as the creature edges closer to her.

The fox then started sniffing around Jessika’s lunch and belongings, while Jessika tried to remain calm.

‘Hello, leave my shoe, please leave my shoe. Hello, nice foxy. Okay, take that, take the sandwich there’s nothing left,’ she said.

The adorable fox then chooses to take a well-earned break on Jessika’s blanket and could be seen rolling over as it rubbed its face into the fabric.

However Jessika could be heard panicking as she is overheard whispering: ‘Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God. It’s okay, it’s okay fox.’

Much to her relief, the animal then got up and wandered away from the picnic blanket after realising there is little food on offer.
