An Australian woman has discovered an ingenious product for keeping food fresh for weeks and it’s just $5 from IKEA stores.

The lady, who shared the product on social media, said it was ‘hands down’ one of the best things she has ever bought from the homewares retailer and she’ll be heading back to purchase more in time.  

‘The zucchini and capsicum I cut a week ago are still super fresh on the ends,’ she said of the results alongside a photo.

Dubbed the ÖVERMÄTT product at IKEA, the packs come in a set with three different sizes, depending on how big the food or drink is that you want to cover

‘I bought these and love that they have different colours so that I can use one for dog food and the larger sized one for tinned fruit. The small one is perfect for cucumber,’ one woman said.

The woman admitted the design was a little humorous, with her 13-year-old son and many others joking that they look like condoms.

‘I never knew I needed food condoms until today,’ one woman said.  

‘I love my cucumber condoms! The middle one goes well as a half cut tomato condom! My husband just rolls his eyes,’ said another.
