Surveillance cameras captured the shocking moment a woman was hit in the head by a runaway tyre as she walked along the street.
The unnamed woman spots the fast-moving tyre heading towards her as she walks on the path in the Copacabana district of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
She manages to quickly jump out the way and dodge it as it flies past her at speed.

After narrowly avoiding the mysterious flying object she carries on walking down the busy road oblivious to the fact the tyre has ricocheted off a bus shelter and is hurtling toward her.
The tyre smashes into the back of the woman’s head and knocks her face first to the ground.
She lays sprawled on the pavement for a few seconds before struggling to sit up and a driver quickly gets out of his car and rushes to help her.

He moves the tyre, which is now laid on top of her legs, and soon other people stop in the street to help the woman to her feet.
A little unsteady, two men help to prop her up as she puts her shoe, which came off in the unexpected incident, back on and support her while she walks.
