She lost out to Naomi Scott for the coveted role of Princess Jasmine in Guy Ritchie’s live-action reboot of Aladdin.

And Jade Thirlwall has discussed her audition for the 2019 blockbuster for the first time during an appearance on Roman Kemp’s Capital Breakfast show on Wednesday.

The Little Mix star, 27, was one of the hot contenders for the role in 2017 and revealed her surreal experience auditioning for Guy in his living room.

Not to be: Jade Thirlwall has discussed her audition for the 2019 blockbuster Aladdin for the first time during an appearance on Roman Kemp’s Capital Breakfast show on Wednesday

Speaking about how the movie opportunity had come about, the songstress said:  ‘Well, they basically asked if I wanted to audition, this was a long time ago now, this was a few years ago, and obviously we were so busy with the girls doing the Glory Days tour, and obviously the girls and Little Mix will always be me priority.

‘Yeah I did the audition and everything, it went really well, actually I had such a good time doing it, auditioned in Guy Ritchie’s living room, singing A Whole New World for him which was very bizarre.

‘I was absolutely bricking it. I was so nervous.’

Adding that it was more nerve-wracking than her X Factor audition, she said: ‘It was very strange, just standing there, like “you alright Guy, I’m going to sing a bit of Whole New World For You. I was quivering literally like “ I can show you the world”.

‘But do you know what, it was an amazing experience, even though like I didn’t get the role, it was the first time I’d ever done something like that so hopefully you know in the future, something else will come up along those lines.’

Despite not bagging the role, Jade said she would still ‘give anything’ to be in a Disney film.

She said: ‘You know what, everything happens for a reason, so, wasn’t meant to be. Well to be fair with Jasmine, there’s not like many middle eastern or Arab princesses so I feel like that was it for me.

‘Who else am I going to play if it’s not like an Arab princess? I suppose I could do like, who else is there that’s like mixed race?

‘Well I could be Medusa, Esmerelda or, do you know what I would love to do actually, if they ever did, this isn’t Disney, but if they ever re-did Prince of Egypt, because I’ve seen they’ve done the musical for it now on the West End, so if they remade that into a film, I’d be down for that do you know what I mean?.’

Back in 2017  the singer appeared to jokingly make a thinly veiled dig after losing out on her ‘dream’ role and shared an Instagram post in July 2017 when Disney announced the final cast list.

Insisting she is ‘over it’, the star appeared to make reference to missing out on the opportunity to play the Disney princess.
