Woman agrees to go on a virtual date with a man who messaged her by MISTAKE

In a story made for a rom-com, a woman has ended up dating a man who had texted her by mistake — after his former love interest gave him a fake phone number.

Actress Codie Higer, 26, from New York City, was quarantined at her mom’s home in Cleveland, Ohio, when she received a picture of a cake from a man named Mike. The stranger was under the impression that he was texting Leah, a woman he had met on a dating app.

The two ended up hitting it off, and not only have they had virtual dates amid the coronavirus pandemic, but they have also gone on a physically distanced, masked walked together.

Codie shared screenshots of their text message exchange on Twitter earlier this month, writing: ‘I now present: things that undoubtedly only happen to me, episode 912,866.’

The conversation started with Mike sending her a picture of the cake he made, thinking he was texting Leah.

‘Hey it’s Mike! It was cool meeting you! This is how that lemon bundt cake turned out by the way,’ he wrote, prompting Codie to explain that he had the wrong woman.

‘Hey – not sure who you’re trying to text but it appears you have the wrong number! Nice cake though!’ she responded.

‘Wait this isn’t Leah?’ he asked, confused.

Mike was understandably disappointed when he realized that Leah had purposefully given him the wrong number.

‘Oh, f**k, Okay. I had a virtual Hinge date but I guess she gave me a fake number,’ he explained, and Codie was sympathetic to his plight.

‘Omg I’m SO sorry that is awful! Her loss! You enjoy that cake!!’ she told him.

Mike thanked her for being ‘so cool’ about the situation, and Codie said she understood because ‘dating sucks.’

Her kindness inspired Mike to continue the conversation and ask how her quarantine is going.

‘My name is Mike by the way. I live in Cleveland. I’m 30. I’m an English teacher. Fan of the outdoors and dogs,’ he added.

When Codie asked if he was ‘really hitting on a fake number right now,’ he responded: ‘Listen, times are hard.’

She was amused and said ‘why the f**k not’ to continuing their conversation.

‘I’m Codie. I’m 26. I usually live in NYC but I’m quarantining here in Cleveland (my mom lives here),’ she wrote back. ‘I’m an actor/singer and I work in fashion. Love dogs obviously.’

Hitting it off: The actress shared a photo of herself before the virtual date, and after it was over, she shared that it was 'fun' and they had already planned a second

After sharing their text messages, Codie returned to Twitter with an update, revealing that they were going to be FaceTiming that night.

She explained that they did exchange pictures, and shared a snapshot of his sweet reaction to her photo.

‘Wait are you serious? Holy s**t. You’re gorgeous! Those eyes!’ he had responded. ‘You’re cat fishing me, right.’

‘Flattery has the potential to take him far,’ she tweeted, noting in a subsequent post that he is ‘pretty cute’ and her ‘type.’

Right before their first video chat, Codie shared a photo of herself holding a glass of wine, admitting it’s the first time she’s worn makeup ‘in who knows how long.’
