The Netflix hit, starring Jane, 83, as Grace and Lily, 81, as Frankie, follows the unexpected friendship of two women whose husbands leave them to marry each other.

‘We have been trying to write me in somehow so when it is safe to actually do a production, I will probably get around to doing that,’ Dolly continued.

The much-loved show has previously featured cameos from celebs including drag queen and TV personality RuPaul and designer Nicole Richie.

Nominated for several Emmy awards and a Golden Globe, the series was renewed for its seventh and final season last year.

The reunion would be a happy occasion for many fans, including Dolly’s co-star Jane, who welled up with emotion last year when speaking about the country singer’s success.

‘She could see into people. It’s like through her songs she opens her arms wide and embraces such a broad swath of people that don’t always feel seen, and it’s why people love her,’ said Jane in the documentary Biography: Dolly while wiping away tears.

From her home in Nashville, Tennessee, the country singer also spoke of her dedication to raising money for a conorvirus vaccine through her non-profit organisation The Dollywood foundation.

‘I was just so happy to be part of that in any way,’ said Dolly.

‘I hope that we can get the vaccines out to everybody and then one of these days soon when life is good again we will be able to get out and do the concerts and get back on the road… it will come one day,’ she said.
