Laura Whitmore has detailed her rollercoaster of emotions after discovering she was pregnant, before being told she had lost her baby at a 12-week scan.

The Love Island presenter, 35, – who has been in a relationship with fiancé Iain Stirling for more than three years – revealed it took her a year to talk about her miscarriage.

Explaining she hadn’t initially planned for her pregnancy, the Irish star confessed she didn’t know whether she was meant to ‘cry or be emotional’ following the heartbreaking news, which came in September 2018.

Laura told The Times: ‘It took me a year to talk about my miscarriage. I’d heard about people having miscarriages when they were trying for babies, but my situation was very different.

‘What happens if you weren’t trying for a baby? I had that guilt of, ‘I wasn’t expecting this,’ so then you change your life. But then suddenly you have to change your head again after the miscarriage.’

The miscarriage also made her realise that she doesn’t want children.

Laura previously spoke about her miscarriage in an article she wrote herself for Hot Press last year.

She penned: ‘In the room I could see the outline of what looked like a jelly baby – just like in the movies. Then silence,’ she stated, before admitting the doctor told her: ‘I’m sorry there’s no heart-beat.’

During the interview with The Times, Laura also spoke about how she is still grieving for her late friend Caroline Flack.

Caroline tragically took her own life in February aged 40.

Laura said: ‘The past six months are a blur, I haven’t fully coped with it. I don’t think I ever will.’

The Irish presenter went on to say how Caroline, who presented Love Island before handing over the roles to Laura amid her impending court case, had texted her to tell her she wanted her to get the job.

Laura said she loves presenting the dating show but the circumstances in which she was offered the job were devastating.

The television personality added working with boyfriend Iain on the show hasn’t affected their relationship and it’s actually quite nice because they can spend six weeks in South Africa or Mallorca together.
