Guy Sebastian reveals what it’s really like working with Rita Ora on The Voice – as he reflects on making the show last year at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic

Guy Sebastian is busy filming season 10 of The Voice Australia.

And speaking at the Sydney premiere of Hamilton on Saturday, the singer-songwriter revealed what it’s really like working with Rita Ora, Keith Urban and Jessica Mauboy.

‘It’s fantastic, it’s just been such a great vibe,’ the 39-year-old told Daily Mail Australia when asked about his fellow coaches.

‘We just love each other. We’ve had a few commercials that we’ve been shooting and I think that’s been the most bonding moment [we’ve had],’ he said.

The inaugural Australian Idol winner explained that because they’re so busy listening to talent during the blind auditions they ‘don’t get that much time to bond and chat’.

‘Whereas on these [commercial] shoots, we’ve been singing together all in harmony and hanging,’ he said.

‘Everyone just loves each other and it’s just been a really nice thing to be able to film,’ he added.

The Voice will air on Channel Seven this year, but Guy had nothing but praise for the show’s former network for how it handled last year’s season at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said: ‘I thought Channel Nine did such a great job of even getting a show on air, but there was no live audience show.

‘We had those challenges and I think they did a great job, but it was hard.’

The Voice Australia moved to Seven after the Nine Network failed to renew its contract after a nine-season run.

With Seven now at the helm of the reality singing competition, Guy said it was ‘amazing to be back in front of a live audience.’

‘It’s the first live studio audience that’s happened in the country and it was The Voice, and it just felt amazing,’ he added.
