Beloved ‘Prisoner’ actress Betty Bobbitt dies at 81 following a ‘major stroke’… as her son reveals the Crocodile Dundee star was ‘peaceful and in no pain’
Beloved Prisoner actress Betty Bobbitt has died ‘peacefully’ at the age of 81 following a ‘major stroke’, her family have revealed.
The Australian-American actress, who was a founding cast member of Prisoner and played lesbian character Judy Bryant, had spent five nights in palliative care in hospital before passing away on Monday.
Her son, Christopher Hill, delivered the tragic news on Facebook, writing: ‘Sadly Mum passed away this morning at 10:20 am after 5 nights in hospital.

‘She was peaceful and in no pain. Thank you for your support and apologies if I can’t respond to everyone but I will try. I will post more later.’
He had revealed on Wednesday that she had suffered the stroke, writing: ‘We are hugely devastated and struggling to come to terms with such a sudden event.
‘My mum has been a legend, an inspiration, a mentor and icon for so many.

‘She is comfortable and not in any pain that we can tell, but the prognosis is not good. She is not expected to recover.’
Betty had played the iconic Judy from 1980 to 1985, making her one of the show’s longest-running characters.
She was originally only offered a 13 week role, but ended up featuring on the series for 430 episodes.
In her career, Betty also starred alongside Paul Hogan in three of the Crocodile Dundee films, and also starred in TV shows such as A Country Practice, All Saints and Blue Heelers.
She is survived her husband, artist Robin Hill, and their son, Christopher.
