Builder causes £425,000 of damage by tearing down German apartments’ balconies with a digger ‘because developer owed him £4.2million’

  • Family recorded the man from a building opposite in Blumberg, south Germany
  • The destructive outburst happened at around 7.30pm on Wednesday evening
  • Man driving the digger first fled the scene in his car but later handed himself in

This is the shocking moment a builder wrecked several new build apartments with a digger after allegedly not being paid by the developer.

In footage shared online, the yellow Volvo machine can be seen tearing down at least three balconies and smashing through several glass windows and doors.

The unnamed contractor operating the digger is believed to be in a furious row with the developer, who allegedly owes him £4.2million.

A family recorded him from the building opposite as he inflicted around £425,000 worth of damage at around 7.30pm on Wednesday in Blumberg, south Germany

The contractor behind the destruction later handed himself into police, according to reports

Footage recorded by a family in an opposite building show balconies, windows and doors being destroyed as the digger inflicts almost half a million pounds worth of damage

There were fears he could have damaged the building’s gas containers, leading police to cordon off the area as a safety precaution.

After initially fleeing the scene in his car, the builder later handed himself in to police.

Fortunately no one was inside the building at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported.

However witnesses said the rampage only ceased because the digger’s hydraulic hose broke, reports German newspaper Schwarzwuelder Bote.

The builder is believed to have performed work on the new build apartments, for which he claims he is still owed £4.2 million.

It is not the first time a digger has been used by people seeking their own form of justice.

Last month an English farmer was seen using similar machinery to flip over a car which had parked on his land.

He is believed to have been fed up of being ‘taunted by anti-social thugs’.

Dramatic footage shows the man using a telehandler to overturn the silver Vauxhall hatchback before carting the vehicle away and bundling it out onto the road.

A shirtless man is seen on footage kicking the tractor as the car is hauled away from a gate it was blocking at the farm County Durham.
