Are you single and ready to mingle? Casting is open for the new season of First Dates – following Channel Seven’s announcement to axe the show

In October last year, Channel Seven axed reality series First Dates.

But it seems new life is about to be breathed into the format, and it’s on its way to Channel Ten, according to TV Tonight.

The Warner Bros. series, which will be filming its fifth season, is currently on the lookout for singletons looking for love.

‘We’re really concentrating on these big shows that can play multiple nights a week,’ Seven’s director of production Andrew Blackwell said at the network’s Upfronts.

‘Farmer [Wants A Wife] has that territory covered, which is relevant for our demographic and has done a really good job,’ he added.

‘So I think that’s going to be us (done) in the dating space for while.’

The show has not been without its fair share of off-screen drama, with a number of contestants unhappy with their portrayals.

Teacher Sarah Pettersen, whose date with P.E. teacher Adam Parker aired earlier this year, accused the network of making her look ‘dumb’ and ”illiterate.’

‘I was mortified by it all,’ she told Sunday Confidential in May.

‘I don’t mind people making fun of my personality, but they made me look so dumb and I am a teacher,’ she added.
