Dua Lipa launches her acting career! Singer set to star in in Matthew Vaughn’s new spy thriller Argylle


She’s known for her catchy pop anthems. 

Yet Dua Lipa is set to add another string to her bow by launching her acting career in Matthew Vaughn’s new spy thriller Argylle, it was reported on Thursday.

The Don’t Start Now hitmaker, 25, will star in the film alongside Henry Cavill, Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, John Cena and Samuel L. Jackson in the star studded movie.

Argylle is allegedly the first film in a new franchise and is based on Ellie Conway’s upcoming novel of the same name. 

The plot follows the world’s number one spy and his international adventures in America, London and other global destinations.    

As well as acting in the film, Dua Lipa will also provide the score for the blockbuster, which is set to start filming in Europe in August, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Kingsman director Matthew said of the Argylle story: ‘When I read this early draft manuscript I felt it was the most incredible and original spy franchise since Ian Fleming’s books of the 50s. This is going to reinvent the spy genre.’

Argylle’s script will be written by Jason Fuchs and produced by Adam Bohling and David Reid.  

Zygi Kamasa, Carlos Peres, Claudia Vaughn and Adam Fishbach will join the project as executive producers. 

Zygi said: ‘We are delighted that we will be starting our fourth, and by far the biggest, feature film production since the start of the global pandemic, 

‘It demonstrates both our desire to scale up our production activity and our ambition to continue to launch new franchises beyond the Kingsman series of films.’

Matthew’s Kingsman prequel, The King’s Man, starring Ralph Fiennes is scheduled to be released theatrically by Disney in December 2021. 

Meanwhile, the Argylle novel will go on sale in 2022 when filming for the movie is well underway. 

In March, Dua hinted at an ‘inevitable’ turn to acting when she revealed she was reading scripts in a new interview,

She spoke about a number of topics in her wide-ranging interview with The Los Angeles Times, including her new career move.

The profile revealed that the singer has been, ‘reading scripts for a move into acting that seems all but inevitable,’ though she wouldn’t comment further.

There were no further details about what kinds of scripts Lipa was reading to make her ‘inevitable’ acting debut.
