Black Widow’s star playing younger title character is actually Milla Jovovich’s 13-year-old daughter

When fans finally get to see Black Widow this weekend, one of the movie’s younger stars may look a bit familiar, for good reason.

The Marvel superhero action-epic features a number of flashback scenes featuring a younger version of Black Widow, who is played by Ever Anderson, the daughter of Resident Evil star Milla Jovovich and director Paul W.S. Anderson.

13-year-old Ever had previously played Young Alice/Red Queen in Jovovich and Anderson’s final Resident Evil movie, 2016’s Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, but this is her first major role.

Ever is the oldest of Jovovich and Anderson’s three children, with Dashiel Edan, 6, and Osian Lark Elliot, who turned one year old in February.

Jovovich and Anderson met on the first Resident Evil movie, which was released back in 2002, with the director proposing in 2003.

The couple were engaged ‘off-and-on’ for a number of years before they got back together in early 2007, with Ever born in November 2007 and the couple married in 2009.

Jovovich would go on to play the hero Alice in 2004’s Resident Evil 2: Apocalypse, 2007’s Resident Evil: Extinction, 2010’s Resident Evil: Afterlife, 2012’s Resident Evil: Retribution and 2016’s Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.

Anderson directed all of those films with the exception of Resident Evil: Extinction, directed by Russel Mulcahy.

Their daughter Ever is clearly following in her mother’s footsteps, with her next big movie set for 2022.

‘Black Widow is such an inspiration to me and so many girls my age. It’s just so exciting, and such a privilege to play young Natasha Romanoff,’ she said.

She added that Black Widow is also her favorite Marvel hero because, ‘I love that she doesn’t have superpowers, she’s just trained her whole life to be a bada** and succeeded.’

Black Widow arrives in theaters nationwide Friday, and is also available on Disney Plus with Premier Access.
