‘When it happens, I’ll be made up’: Blur frontman Damon Albarn discusses potential band reunion, new Gorillaz music and UK politics
He is known for being the frontman of rock band Blur.
And Damon Albarn hasn’t shut down the idea of a band reunion in an interview with NME.
The musician, 53, admitted that despite being very busy, nothing is ruled out – but doesn’t want to ‘foist’ the reunion on anyone unnecessarily.

‘When it happens, I’ll be made up. When it’s wanted, I’ll do it,’ he said.
The singer-songwriter, who came onto the music scene in 1998 when Blur was formed, is also a member of alternative band Gorillaz.
Damon is of the belief that music is ‘ill’ – and has been left to the back of the line since the pandemic began – but he is optimistic about Gorillaz’ new music.

‘I’ve been working on carnival-themed music with Gorillaz with a lot of people from west London.
We’re really going back to the spirit of the first record,’ he revealed.
Their first self-titled record, released in 2001, reached number 3 on the UK charts and was so successful it earned them a Guinness Book of World Record Entry for ‘most successful virtual band’.

Gorillaz are headlining Cornwall festival Boardmasters in August and Damon revealed he is itching to get back out there: ‘We’ve been patiently waiting and will wait longer. We’ve missed everybody.’
The icon, who is releasing his solo album The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows in November, told NME that it’s hard to ‘genuinely express’ what he feels about politics.
He said: ‘There are a few of them who were all there and in the same room when Brexit was conceived. Some of them aren’t there any more and seem to be bad losers.’
Damon Albarn releases The Nearer The Fountain, The More Pure The Stream Flows on November 12 via Transgressive Records, before a run of solo tour dates in early 2022. Gorillaz will headline The O2 in London on Wednesday August 11, with appearances set for Boardmasters 2021 and Primavera Sound 2022.
